Here is some of the work by Class 5..........

SADNESS

Holding his queasy stomach

Dewdrops dripping from his nose

Sadness limps like a tramp carrying bricks

Sick, head down

Fast as a snail

Heaving himself along

Small face on massive lumbering body

He mumbles and grunts

From four moaning mouths.

Tears float in the air

From twenty crying eyes on a pale blue face

He lifts his long-haired head

Tries to scream like a roaring bear

But nothing is there.

The dribble spells a word on his ripped shirt

‘Why?’

I went to Highfields and I saw

One round tick-tocking clicking clock

Two blue uncomfortable broken chairs

Three glamorous girly pencil cases

Four dull chalky blackboards

Five tiny titchy tropical tables

Class 5, Highfields School,  15th January 2002

Space Stadium is packed for the big match,

Moon United against Star Wanderers for the Jupiter Cup,

The Earth blows his whistle and the Milky Way of twinkling fans

Roars its support,

Star Beckham zooms like a comet down the wing,

Does a one-eighty,

Twists through the planets, beats Neptune and Uranus,

Before being sat on by Saturn,

The Yellow card sun rises and warms the air,

But the crowd shouts for a Mars.

Free kick, the moon swerves past the wall of darkness

Beats the diving clouds and hits the net

One nil, one nil.

The sky bursts with asteroid celebrations.

Happiness

Three sparkling eyes

One smiling happy mouth with clear see-through teeth

She has four ears

Her nose is squeaky and shiny

And four long arms that can reach anywhere

No legs but floats that can stick to the floor

Her hair is plaited and she is wearing a see-through clothes multi-coloured hair

She always hugs people and shows happiness

Victoria Jane Francis

Happiness

A pink little smile

A cute little mouse face

A grey furry cat’s tail

A little dress on

For the fox's black legs

Peacefulness

Peacefulness floated into the room,

It’s the size of an ant,

It eats any type of food,

But it’s head is too big for it’s body.

Peacefulness floated into the room,

It came by me,

And sat on the table,

But wouldn’t leave me alone.

Peacefulness floated into the room,

It whispered to me

I come in peace,

So we made friends right here.

Bhavini Mistry

He has got four eyes

And three legs like a cabinet,

He has got three noses,

And five mouths like a limousine

John Luke Winter

Anger

An ugly monster came into the room,

Crossing his arms and frowning.

He had purple lips,

Six eyes,

Seven ears,

His hair was on end.

Big hands,

Half face burnt,

Fast nose,

Big head,

Hunch back,

And big very big eyebrows

Asma Mohammed

Sadness

He is always sad,

Never is happy,

He has three eyes,

One mouth,

One nose,

Four arms,

Two ears,

Two legs,

A wet shirt,

And a scottish skirt,

The eyes are like dishes,

His mouth is blistered,

His ears dangle down,

His skin blue,

His horn sharp.

Amy Park

Happiness

Dancing in the room as she comes in,

Big mouth

Bright red,

She wears a party dress,

Bright pink.

With a bow on her dress,

And a purple bow in her hair,

Make-up on her eyes,

Four eyes,

Her eyes are pretty like a princess.

If fish could fly

Flying fish fingers,

Red Arrow fish fighter pilots,

Fish parachute fish,

Julie Howell

If Fish Could Breathe in Air and Humans Could Breathe in Water

Fish would be sunbathing,

And octopuses would be carrying drinks to the sharks,

The humans would be called water people,

And babies called water babies,

The shellfish would be ice-cream men.

Joshua Catalano

Sadness

Red and grey clothes,

Baggy,

Four ears,

And four baggy mouths,

Twenty-eight fingers,

Short nails,

You can see your skeleton,

Two big mangy feet,

And nasty big ears,

He looks like he has oranges in his cheeks.

Grumpy

Grump is very sad,

Sometimes he tells the truth,

There is a room filled with floating tears,

He sounds angry,

He’s got six eyes,

Three fingers on each hand,

Two feet on each side of his body,

He has got a big head and a small body,

He is always bored,

And medium-sized,

Grumpy has got hair down to his four feet,

Grumpy is always tired,

He is always depressed and,

That’s why he is called Grumpy

When My Mum Bought me a Computer

My eyes were wide open,

My belly was churning,

My mom and dad were there, smiling,

It smelled like electricity,

I said ‘Thankyou’

I was surprised,

My computer was in the room just sitting there,

It felt really exciting for me to have my own computer,

I loved it so much that by the time I came off it,

It was time for bed.

I went straight on it to look round,

Now it’s brilliant,

I’ve got my own computer.

The Happiest Day of My Life

The happiest day of my life was

When it was my birthday, and my nanny came to my house,

And she said ‘Close your eyes’

My nanny gave my present and I opened this bag,

With a box, I opened the box and there, shimmering like

A thousand lights,

Was a gold bangle.

My mouth dropped open,

My eyes were dazzling,

My face was like a light that just lit up,

My hair was like snacks,

My heart had sunk

My legs were wobbling like jelly,

My fingers were all over the place,

My tummy was jumping everywhere,

I screamed like I had eaten an ant,

My Mum said, ‘Oh Mam, you shouldn’t have’ and

‘It’s lovely’

If the moon was a football

If the moon was a football

The players could be the stars

The sun could be the yellow card

The red card could be Mars

If the sun was a basketball

The players could be clouds,

The crowd could be the Milky Way

And rain could be fouls.

If the sky was a cricket pitch,

The cloud could be the backstop,

The rain could be the other players,

When Jupiter has circled the sun, that’s when it stops.

The Most Fun Day of My Life

When my Dad took me to Nursery

I had to sing ‘Jingle Bells’

My Dad made me sing ‘Jingle Bells, Batman Smells'

I was a bit embarrassed,

But I made people laugh.

My legs were shaking,

The temperature was hot,

There were teachers and mums and dads about.

Daniel Doyle

When I first met my Mum and dad

When I saw my Mum and dad,

All I could see was blurs,

The room was white,

And my Mum was screaming,

And my Dad was saying ‘Aah’

My heart was beating like a drum,

I did not know what to do,

I felt so happy I cried and,

I had lots of presents,

With teddies and toys,

It was the happiest day of my life.

It was so good,

The whole of my family was there.

Happiness

When happiness walked into the room,

It danced and skipped and jumped,

It had a round yellow face,

And a little round tummy,

His mouth opened up in song,

A very jolly song,

Its eyes were large and blue,

It had a little round nose,

And a small mouth which smiles all the time,

With bright white teeth,

Happiness is short and plump,

It had short blonde hair,

Its limbs were short and round,

Its clothes were smart an colourful,

Everyone was happy,

When happiness walked into the room.

 Pain

It floats in the air.

It never cries, it is always is in the middle of smiling.

Always wears black and white.

Eight eyes, ten arms.

Grabbing every one who talks to him.

Veins popping out of his neck.

His nails are very sharp.

He has a very big hand.

He is a pale blue colour.

His eyes have fire, in his eyes there is fear.

He has got a big scar down his face by his eye.

He wears a dog chain down his trouser leg.

                                                                               Panic

When panic walked in the room.

I panicked, I panicked, while my friend lay there.

Not speaking a word, not moving, not breathing?

Oh no he might be dead! What shall I do?

Shall I just leave him? Or take him to A. and E. ?

Tiredness

Tiredness walked in slowly,

Holding his head with his hands,

His huge black bags under his eyes

He walked into the doorway,

With his clothes all creased,

Coffee dripping down his mouth and all down his coat,

A shirt with tiredness on it and stained by coffee,

His head was swinging around

And couldn’t keep it still

Eventually his head dropped down,

His eyes closed, he dropped his coffee

And fell fast asleep

By Christian Barnett

Pain

You can see a dart stuck in his leg.

You can see a knife in his head.

You can see his brain half hanging out.

You can see veins hanging out of his fingers.

He is tensing his head.

He is gritting his teeth.

You can see a shark scar on his back.

You can see anger in his face.

All his body is red, for a sign of anger and pain.

All of his teeth are green and broken.

In his air you can see mini dogs biting his head

Time Travellers’ Assembly

‘Good Morning School’

‘Good Morning Your Majesty, Good Morning Everyone’

Queen Victoria, the Headmistress, wears black

‘Stop talking, Boudicea’, she snaps, We are not amused’

The crowd of children of all sizes march into assembly

Poor pickpockets and artful dodgers, chimney sweeps and housemaids

Staring up at the teachers

Henry the Eighth, Queen Elizabeth, William Shakespeare,

Alexander Bell the ICT teacher has an announcement.

Florence Nightingale, Mother Teresa and the rest of the Dinner Ladies, are cleaning the tables.

‘Young Edward in Year 3 has done some good reading, come out here and get your knighthood’

The loyal school subjects clapped

And marched out of the hall in rows
