I Want My Dad to Live with Me

With the look of an angel she steals from people’s pockets

She steams at her mother like a hot lava jacuzzi

She sucks smoke in a dark alley, like a crazy vacuum,

She wolfs Wimpy burgers like a horse with straw

She sits in a narrow corner

And at night she prays

For a wake-up kiss in the morning

World Cup Haikus

In South Korea

Nations of the world gather

For the great World Cup

Ruud Van Nistelrooy

Scores three great goals in a row

With his feet and head

Football supporters

Lock up your sons and daughters

They are out at night

I heard in Japan

There is a seven foot man

With a two foot tail

If I were taller

I’d be a great footballer

Yes I know I would

LIMERICK

There once was a pupil at Dawley

Who one day was terribly poorly

Because in the night

He had had a big bite

From a horrible great creepy-crawly

When I did my Puppet Show

My mouth was open it was very red

My heart was bounding fast

And my skin went pale and red

My legs were shaking

And my mum and dad were there

My tummy was shaking with water

The puppet show was very funny and my Mum and dad were laughing

I felt that I had to do it for years

I smelt the fire burning.

After the puppet show I felt proud of myself.

I heard very loud music.

At half time I swallowed all my drink very quickly

I loved the drink just going quickly in my mouth

Like a waterfall

The Day I went to the Pantomime

My heart went over the moon

My arms were touching the sky

Everybody is screaming

At the pantomime

It was like a very big boom

An explosion had gone off

Then suddenly the curtains rose….

At the pantomime

Then he appeared, the star of the show

The audience fell silent

Excitement was locked up inside

At the pantomime

My First Day at Cubs

My first day at cubs I was silent

My arms were drooping but my head was up like a pencil

Everyone looked at me

I took two slow steps

Then suddenly everybody ran up to me, asked questions, wanted to play with me

My eyes were watering in laughter, as we ran around the warmish room

I felt like I had a huge bowl of jelly inside me

I would not say it was a clean room, but I knew the broken windows and dusty floors would soon be fixed and cleaned

Insects like flies were buzzing above us and others crawling beneath us

I felt that cubs was not like I expected it to be

But I knew I’d fit in.

Suddenly at the blow of a whistle, all the older children walked to the right or left of the room in four groups

I was left in the middle of the room

I was told to join one of the four groups called maroon

My legs were shaking and my heart was pounding up and down

Like a frog leaping

Eventually a smile came on my face

It was one of the happiest days of my life

I looked out of the lighthouse window and I saw

I looked out of the lighthouse window and I saw

One swirling swaying sea

Two rough ragged rocks

Three big bold boats

Four howling hurling hurricanes

Five brown broken bridges

I looked out of the hotel window and I saw

I looked out of the hotel window and I saw

One spectacular sparkling swimming pool

Two public pink parks

Three amazing animals

Four dazzling dogs

Five brown benches

I looked out of the plane window and I saw

I looked out of the plane window and I saw

Cuddly cotton clouds

Beautiful blue birds

Colourful clean countries

Fiddly frosty farms

Mystical mysterious moon

Silver shining sun

Sparkling super stars

Shiny squidgy sea

Great green grass

If my class was underwater

My teacher would definitely be an octopus

Writing with all her eight arms

I would have to be a dolphin

All my best friends would be dainty little fish

Who I would look after

Surely most of the boys would be vermin creatures

I would shoo the sharks away and frighten the whales

Absolutely none of my friends would ever get hurt or killed

I would make sure that vermin creatures

Wouldn’t go near my friends

If they did, I would give them what for

I would make them sure that they knew

Not to mess with me and my friends

If cotton wool was a hedgehog

If cotton wool was a hedgehog

The hedgehog would scratch all the children’s legs

With all its spikes

If cotton wool was a hedgehog

Children would scream and shout with pain

If cotton wool was a hedgehog

The hedgehog would tickle you with his whiskers

If the planets did a show

If the planets did a show

This is how it would go.

The Sun would be the main character

The stars would dance around the sun

The moon would dance in a circle around the stars and sun

All the other planets, Mars, Jupiter and Venus

Would dance around the moon and sun

The stars and the sun would glisten all the time

The sky would be the stage and the clouds would be the curtain

If my bike was a horse

If my bike was a horse

I’d ride it every day

If my bike was a horse

I’d feed it every day

If my bike was a horse

I’d love it every day

If my bike was a horse

I’d take care of it every day

If my bike was a horse

I’d ride it every day

But my bike is a bike

Korean Haiku

Now in Korea

The World Cup is hosted here

It is drawing near

Supporters cheering

The game is nearly over

The score is three two

The game is over

The cheers have fallen silent

See you next match, bye.

The Day my Bed Disappeared

I liked my little bed

It was warm and cosy…

Then my mum came.

I knew she was taking something. She folded it,

I tried to grab it,

But it was no use.

I slept on a monstrous bed,

I missed my old bed

The Day the Telly Blew Up

My eyes were full of burning tears,

Nothing had happened so tragic

for years.

Sitting on the lonely seat,

Frozen from my head to my feet.

My heart had sunk into my belly……

When the fuse blew on the telly!!

Hairy Dave

There once was a player called Dave,

Who always needed a shave,

He was terribly hairy,

People thought he was scary,

He now has his very own grave.

All Alone

TIME STOPPED

MY STOMACH HOPPED

I ALMOST CRIED

MY HAIR DYED

I HEARD THE T.V.

IT WAS ONLY ME

I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT TO SAY

WHEN MY PARENTS

WENT AWAY

ALL ALONE

When My Hamster Died

I cried all night

I buried him in the garden

He used to go squeak squeak

before he died

I felt like everyone died

because I loved him

When My Fish Died

I had seen my fish drown

He was like my own crown.

My bones were a lot like jelly,

I felt like screaming for the telly.

After this I cried all evening

Now I know he won’t be breathing.

The Day I Found Out I had to Go To School

The day I found out I had to go to school

I wanted to have a great duel.

I had a great tantrum

That nearly broke my ear drum

It was the worst day of my life

Like not having a bike

1997 November 11th

1997 November 11th,

Nurses everywhere,

Blood painting the wall,

Screaming, oh so horrible,

It was my last day as a child all alone,

I would give up my crib, my toys and privacy.

My brother was born,

There was nothing I could do about it,

By the end of the day I felt I didn’t have any attention,

No blood,

Because I had been bitten

By a two day old boy named Huw,

[Screwy Huwy]

When he had a tantrum

‘Ah he’s having a moan’

But when I have a moan,

It’s a red mark on my bottom,

And I spend the day in my room.

I felt gutted, sad, alone.

In a naughty way he’s brave

But now he’s four…..

Come visit my grave
