Amblecote Primary School

These are Poems from Year 4 Classes in Amblecote School.....

Snowy Weather

I stared out of the window and I saw

Some slow squishy slushy snow

A hundred heavy hard horrible hailstones

Icy ice-cubes of indestructible indigo ice

Fast-freezing frantic free fuzzy flaky frost

And sweet soft-bearded Santa with his sack

Sunny Weather

I looked out of the window and I saw

Sun blazing and glowing like a stove

Flowers with petals singing like stars

Roots bursting like rockets

Sky as clear as tap-water, dancing like a purple pop star

Brown ground as dry as skin

Bees striped like tigers going buzz like an electric alarm clock.

And now some individual poems by Amblecote poets.........

The day my brother was born

My mom had a baby boy.

His name was Harry.

I was as gob-smacked as if an elephant

Kicked me in the mouth.

My eyes popped out.

Smoke came out my ears

Fire came out my mouth.

I back-flipped off the chair and gasped for air

I was gob-smacked!

The Day England beat Germany 5-1

My mouth was wide open and my hands were red.

I sat with my fists up.

When Michael Owen scored, I shouted

‘Come on my boy, come on!’

I sang ‘na na na, na na na  - na na’

My eyes popped out and

My arms fell out of their sockets

The Day I Went to Hear’Say

My mouth was smiling

My arms were waving in the air

My eyes were bulging with fire

I was breathing heavily

I saw five people come on the stage

Kym, Suzanne, Myleene, Noel and Danny

It was FAB

When I Went on the Water Ride in Spain

It was very cold and exciting

I held on to my brother

Inside there wasn’t much lighting

I really did want my mother

I wondered how long I would be on it for

I nearly ate my apple core

The Ice Cream Man

One winter night while I

Slept

An ice cream man came

In the morning it felt cold.

I jumped out of bed

Tip-toed

To the window

Looked out

It had snowed!

I rushed in to my clothes

Put

My hat and gloves on and

Rushed outside.

It looked like a

Place like gems; sparkly; glittery.

The trees looked like lollipops

I felt excited

I found a carrot for

A snowman

I rolled balls of snow

And

Splatted

Them

At

The

Window

Summer

Summer is yellow and blue

It tastes like Solero and 99’s

It sounds like waves and chattering on the beach

It looks like a painting of flowers and a world of sun

It smells like jam and fruit

It makes me feel happy and joyful.

                                                     Snow and snow

In the night the gentle snow fell

Like a polar bear walking

In my garden in the morning

I went out, I was amazed.

When I went outside

I saw a polar bear’s tail

I ran and ran after it

And started to lose my house.

I remembered I lost the polar bear

So I found my way back home

I told my mom I saw

A polar bear.

No you didn’t she said

Yes I did I replied

Show me she said

So I showed her

The glittery white snow.

THE  GLITTERING  SOMETHING

WHEN I SLEPT

SOMETHING DROPPED DOWN FROM THE SKY

IT SPARKLED

GLITTERED

AND SHONE LIKE BUBBLES

I JUMPED OUT OF BED

OPENED MY CURTAINS

AND SAW SNOW FALLING GENTLY

IT LIT UP THE  WHOLE GARDEN

AND COLOURED THE TREE TOPS

I RAN DOWN STAIRS

AND SENSED FRIENDS OUTSIDE

I TUGGED ON MY WELLIES AND PULLED OUT MY SLEDGE RAN AND SLIPPED

OVER A BLOCK OF SNOW BALLS

BY THE GATE

IN THE END

THE GLITTERING SOMETHING WAS SNOW

                                    What Was It?

One winter night while I slept

Something fell gently

But what was it?…

Was it some sparkly gems?

Had there been a wedding?

Was it confetti?

It fell,

And fell,

And fell.

I could hear it nestling down to the ground,

I opened my curtains…

Then I realised that it was “snow”!

I got my warm woolly clothes on,

Ran down stairs,

Then I stood there,

Felt gobsmacked,

Then ran outside,

I jumped in the snow,

Did snow angels,

Built a whole town of snowmen

And lots more.

Then I thought I wonder if it was really snow?

Thursday 24th January

Snow is falling

In the night

Gently snow came

Like a game of snowfall.

When I woke up

I went into my moms

Room and I jumped on my

Mom and dad they woke up

She said “yes ok” when I went out

Side it just

                        Fell

                                  Fell

                                            Fell

                                                      Gently

I felt amazed.

It was glittery, frozen

And  deep.

I built a snowman

And had a snow ball

Fight.

                                                If I was small.

If I were small

I would climb an ant

Have a cool ride

But if I got squashed

I would jump off,

And fly

And be a super hero

Save ant world for life

And be the best tiny person

In the world.

Summer

Summer is blue and yellow

It tastes like Solero and salt

It sounds like waves splashing and people talking

It looks like the sun and ice cream

It smells like fruit and sticky sweets

It makes me feel flaming and generous.
